Those big wholesale food stores don't save you much if you have to buy a lot more food than you'll be able to consume before it goes bad. So buddy up with someone to share the load and cut the costs.

Pumpkins make great decorations at this time of year, but no reason to toss them into the compost when finished showing them off. Eat them. Turn them into pumpkin pie.

Let there be cheap, energy-efficient light

Seattle City Light is partnering with a number of stores in the area to get people to buy inexpensive and energy-efficient CF (compact fluorescent) lightbulbs. You could call the campaign save some green by going green.

Waterproof savings

Now that the rainy season is back, you don't need to buy expensive new waterproof shoes and jackets. Just buy a can of waterproofing spray and give what you already have a good shot. That should keep you dry.
