The Real Estate Deal
Editor Cindy Zetts dishes on real-estate and development around Puget Sound: She lived in apartments, townhomes and houses -- a dozen of them in four states -- before settling in the Seattle area in 1997. After taking a bath on the sale of her first home, in South Florida, she vowed to wise up about real estate. She bought a house in Covington 10 years ago because, well, she could afford one there.

Two real-estate foreclosure workshops scheduled in S. King County
Posted by Cindy Zetts
Two free four-hour workshops scheduled this month and next are aimed at helping homeowners avoid mortgage default and foreclosure.
The workshops -- aimed at homeowners in default and those with subprime, interest-only and adjustable-rate loans that will reset soon -- will explain what to do if you can't make your mortgage payments and how to recognize and avoid foreclosure-rescue scams.
Sessions are scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Kent Senior Center, 600 E. Smith St., and from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Oct. 11 at Cedarbrook Leadership Center, 18525 36th Ave. S., Seatac. The Sept. 28 session includes a light dinner, and the Oct. 11 session includes a light lunch.
Solid Ground, a nonprofit agency in Seattle, is presenting the workshops in partnership with The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and the Seattle King County Asset Building Collaborative. Space is limited, so reservations are recommended. To reserve a spot, call 206-461-3792, ext. 3004.
