The Real Estate Deal
Editor Cindy Zetts dishes on real-estate and development around Puget Sound: She lived in apartments, townhomes and houses -- a dozen of them in four states -- before settling in the Seattle area in 1997. After taking a bath on the sale of her first home, in South Florida, she vowed to wise up about real estate. She bought a house in Covington 10 years ago because, well, she could afford one there.

Real-estate sales: Offer, counter on Bothell house
Posted by Cindy Zetts
Justin Wilcox, who experimented with a reverse auction to sell his two-story Bothell house, received an offer over the weekend., He's made a counteroffer and says he and the prospective buyers are "negotiating a couple of points."
In late May, Wilcox listed his house for just under half a mil ($499,900). He reduced the price by $10,000 after two weeks and $10,000 more each of several weeks until July 31, when he reduced it for the last time, cutting it $15,000 to $424,900.
Wilcox says he expects to know more by the end of the week.
I can't wait to see whether the deal goes through and for what price. I'll keep you posted. When all is said and done, we'll revisit Wilcox's strategy and its pros and cons.
