Google's new playground: SearchMash

Google has launched a new site called SearchMash where it can anonymously test out ideas, reports SearchEngineWatch.

Danny Sullivan at SearchEngineWatch notes an uncanny resemblance between SearchMash and Amazon's A9.com service -- both seem like an R&D playground for the companies that own them. The link between the two could be Udi Manber, the former CEO of A9.com who jumped ship for Google in February.
