Microsoft expects 25 million Xbox 360 consoles sold globally by end of November

Posted by Benjamin J. Romano

Microsoft is touting the launch of its New Xbox Experience, which I wrote about today, with some new sales statistics. The company expects to have sold 25 million Xbox 360 consoles by the end of November, three years after the console was launched. It also announced in a news release going out tonight expanded partnerships for Xbox Live users in several markets around the world.

The following studios (listed with some representative titles) are planning to make their movies available on Xbox Live in those markets and others:

-- Magnolia Pictures. "The World’s Fastest Indian," "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room." Canada and the U.S.

-- MGM. "Carrie," "Rocky." Italy and Spain. Already available in Canada, France, Germany, the U.K. and the U.S.
-- Paramount Pictures. "Iron Man," "Stop-Loss." Films to become available worldwide.
-- Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. "Interview With the Vampire," and "The Matrix Trilogy." 100 titles to be made available in Spain and Italy. Already available in Canada, Germany, France, the U.K. and the U.S.
