Day 2 of Microsoft's Windows Hardware Engineering Conference starts at 9:30 a.m. with a speech from Bill Laing, corporate vice president of the Windows Server Division. Access to the Webcast is here.
Via Microsoft PR, here are some of the details of Windows Server 2008 R2 that Laing is expected to cover:
-- Live Migration, facilitates customers moving virtual machines from host to host.
-- Direct Access, allows customers to manage remote PCs from external environments.
-- Branch Cache, reduces WAN bandwidth between the datacenter and branch offices by inventorying files in a branch.
-- Scalability, supports greater than 64 processor cores to exploit the CPUs and deploy relevant features.
-- Terminal Services Renamed, Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is the new name for Terminal Services, which allows customers to run the desktop or applications in the datacenter from anywhere..
