GamesIndustry.biz reports that Kirkland-based game studio Bungie expects "Halo 3: Recon" to be its last installment in the blockbuster trilogy, which has probably done more for Microsoft's video game console business than any other title.
In an interview on the sidelines of the Tokyo Games Show, Bungie community and PR director Brian Jarrard indicated that "Halo 3: Recon," due in late 2009, will be the studio's "final statement" on the series of first-person shooter games. He apparently did not rule out additional projects set in the Halo universe. Jarrard noted that the studio, which split from Microsoft last year, will continue to support the "Halo" series for players.
Microsoft unveiled two new "Halo" titles on Tuesday. The other is a strategy game, "Halo Wars," by its Ensemble Studios.
Jarrard indicated that Bungie currently has three projects in the works, one of which is "Halo 3: Recon." He was mum on the other two.
