E3: A word on the next 'Halo' from a top Microsoft exec
Posted by Mark Watanabe
Brier Dudley points out in his blog today that Xbox boss Don Mattrick told a blogger from MTV's Multiplayer blog that a new version of "Halo," the blockbuster game, is in the works.
Mattrick's remarks came after Bungie Studios, the Kirkland-based developer of the series, canceled an announcement many expected Tuesday at E3.
The blog had no details about the game, though Mattrick told the blogger, Stephen Totilo, the project didn't involve other titles that have been part of the discussion. Totilo said:
I asked for clarification, wondering if Mattrick meant Bungie's project was "Halo Wars" or the long-announced Peter Jackson "Halo" project. Neither, Mattrick said. The Bungie game is something else.
Microsoft spun Bungie off in October, but the expectation was the studio would continue to develop titles for the Xbox 360 and the PC.
