Update: "Training Rules" could travel to Seattle

Posted by Jayda Evans

The historic documentary "Training Rules" about the "No Lesbians" era at Penn State premiered last weekend in Philadelphia to a packed house, according to professor/author Pat Griffin. She attended and blogged about her experience.

The film could play locally at the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival in October, according to program director Jason Plourde. The festival is slatted to run Oct. 16-25. For other screenings around the country, you can check here.

"Training Rules" captures former Lions coach Renee Portland's discriminatory attitude toward lesbians in her program. Jennifer Harris stood up to Portland, in a case that carried on for two years. Portland ultimately resigned in 2007 and Harris transferred. The player was given a standing ovation along with the filmmakers at the premier.
