Australian Center Suzy Batkovic returns to Storm

Thumbnail image for StepOly.jpgIt's not Lauren Jackson, but they are close friends, so maybe the Storm signing C Suzy Batkovic today moves the team closer to re-signing the two-time MVP. Batkovic (pictured right with ball by FIBA) last played for Seattle in 2005, appearing in 29 games under coach Anne Donovan and averaging 6.9 points and 3.2 boards.

"Suzy's always been on our radar," Storm coach Brian Agler said in a released statement. "She's an international star and has played at the highest level of international competition, including Euroleague, the gold-medal matches in the Olympics and the 2002 World Championship. She's going to give us some great depth at the post position and can be a starter for us or play quality minutes off of the bench. I like Suzy's versatility offensively as she has the ability to step out and shoot the basketball or put her back to the basket. She is a great addition to our team."

Due to getting married May 30, Batkovic will be in Seattle for part of training camp and miss a few games for the ceremony. The Storm's season tips-off on June 6 in Sacramento.
