O'Neill nabs contract from Storm
Posted by Jayda Evans
Storm F Kristen O'Neill was signed through the remainder of the season today. The former Washington star was first signed to two seven-day contracts, the second of which expired this afternoon. Storm coach Brian Agler had the choice to either sign her or release her and possibly have her return to the practice squad, if not signed by another team.
But Agler chose to keep O'Neill, who pushes players like Katie Gearlds in practice and can be a deep backup for any position along the perimeter. O'Neill is also capable of playing power forward, but is undersized at 6-foot-1.
O'Neill has appeared in four games, averaging 3.3 minutes since being first being signed on July 1.
I'll have more details after practice.
UPDATE: Put the brakes on. O'Neill was signed to another seven-day contract. They were told today that a player can be signed to as many short-term deals as a team wants, unlike previous seasons when the limit was two. O'Neill is excited about the opportunity either way, stating that although she sweated out the expected "final answer" on Monday night, the longevity of contracts aren't in her control so she's not concerned with that aspect.
