Brazil defeated Spain today 71-68 for the Group C title in the FIBA Olympic Qualifier Tournament for women. The team, described as "flashy, yet controlled," used strong defense and a team-leading 18 points from former Storm forward Iziane Castro Marques (Atlanta) to advance. Storm forward Kelly Santos, who is pictured to the left, finished with 10 points and four rebounds in 21 minutes.
Brazil plays Belarus in the quarterfinals on Friday. The country is trying to grab one of the final five berths to the Beijing Games.
This winter, three local motorcycle riders have been on the trip of a lifetime. Their journey: four months riding from Seattle to South America.
