Swoopes injures neck

Storm F Sheryl Swoopes is listed as day-to-day after injuring her neck in the opening quarter of Friday's exhibition loss to Sacramento. Swoopes, already returning from back surgery, told a spokesman that an Monarchs player was driving the lane and crashed into Swoopes, causing her to hit the floor. She had to be helped off the court by the athletic trainer's staff and did not return.

Seattle is hosting its annual meet-and-greet with fans on Sunday at KeyArena and Swoopes will attend, but whether the crowd gets to see her practice depends on how she feels. An X-ray taken today in Seattle showed a strained neck and no major damage.

While Swoopes may not be on the court, G Roneeka Hodges and F Kelly Santos will. They joined the team along with F Swin Cash in Sacramento after overseas commitments. G Tanisha Wright is not expected until later this week.
