Burse injured?
Posted by Jayda Evans
Bumped into Storm center Janell Burse at a posh restaurant after the Washington game and she had her left wrist bound in a cast.
"I think my wrist might be broke," she said. "I'll tell you tomorrow."
I was shocked because I don't remember Burse leaving the Tuesday night matchup with any pain. She collected her fourth foul early in the third quarter and was benched for the remainder by coach Anne Donovan.
Burse hasn't statistically been the same since the team's three-game road trip to Houston, San Antonio, and Los Angeles to begin the month of July. And reserves Wendy Palmer (10 rebounds) and Ashley Robinson (three steals) played above their norm against the Mystics, so the team had help inside -- just from one less body.
Donovan doesn't discuss what's going on with Burse and the player's explanation is she can't find a rhythm because she's pulled so often after the slightest mistake. Maybe we'll know more today, but the Storm could be without a post that was once of All-Star caliber due to injury.
The Storm could cut guard Doneeka Lewis and find another post. But if a gem was out there, she was probably picked up long ago.
