Bench play
Posted by Jayda Evans
The Storm faced a shaky situation in the third quarter of the loss to Sacramento when starting center Janell Burse had to exit the game with four fouls and then backup Wendy Palmer had to leave for the same reason minutes later.
Reserve center Ashley Robinson then joined backup guard Tanisha Wright as energizers to alter the momentum the Storm lost in the third quarter. Robinson had two blocks and two rebounds in the quarter and played 10 minutes overall.
"Ashley gave us great minutes," Storm coach Anne Donovan said. "It was great to see our bench come in and really hold us down a little while we rested JB."
Donovan said minutes are spread based on matchups, so Shyra Ely didn't play and rookie Katie Gearlds saw 10 minutes, attempting two shots and making one -- a three-pointer. Reserve guard Doneeka Lewis also did not play.
The Storm is off today and will resume its practice schedule Thursday before traveling to Sacramento for the final game in the regular-season series.
