It was interesting to see WNBA president Donna Orender emphatically shake her head "no" when Storm relocation was mentioned as a side note in regards to all the changes that will occur next season. Even though a direct question wasn't asked, she added, "I don't see a relocation," as a partial answer. It's the most concrete statement she's made regarding the sale of the Sonics and Storm, usually deferring to NBA commissioner David Stern or stating she doesn't know enough to comment.
It also fits a theme, as new owner Clay Bennett released a statement today declaring it's time to take a serious look at the arena situation, calling all local politicians and civic leaders to action. He requested a meeting with Mayor Greg Nickels, saying he's the "appropriate person to provide leadership and guidance."
Bennett also re-stated he wants to keep the teams here, but it all is stuff we've heard before.
