The All-Star break is supposed to be a happy time. Players get to escape from team stresses for a minute and, although the actual All-Stars and participants of the events have a lot of work squeezed in for them during the stretch, it's still fun (OK, to me at least).

News out of San Antonio that reigning player of the week, guard Erin Buescher, is going to undergo season-ending knee surgery is a complete letdown. We'll see if the Silver Stars remain a contender during the second half of the season and wish Buescher the best. She averaged 17 points and 3.6 steals in three San Antonio wins against the Storm this season, including a career-high 27 points and season-high-tying five steals on July 7.

Maybe now All-Star G Marie Ferdinand-Harris will get some real playing time, returning from the birth of her first child last season.
