Storm guard Betty Lennox has been wearing teammate Sue Bird's shoes in practice, trying to protect the last pair of kicks that don't bother her swollen right Achilles tendon, which Lennox only wears during games.
So, she's literally stepped into the All-Star's shoes as she plays some point guard to help Seattle as Bird recovers from left knee surgery. Lennox already defended the opponent's point guard this season.
The WNBA is taking the replacement point a step further, inviting Lennox to participate in the All-Star Game's "Skills Challenge" this week. Lennox has agreed to participate.
Bird has participated in the event the past two midsummer classics, winning the inaugural challenge in Connecticut and finishing second to Minnesota All-Star Seimone Augustus last summer.
