Pasco's Allen leaves EWU team
CHENEY -- Skyler Allen, who led Pasco High School to the 2000 State 4A football title, has quit the football team at Eastern Washington.

Allen saw spot duty as a quarterback, kicker and punter in two seasons at Eastern after redshirting in 2002. He was moved from quarterback to wide receiver in spring practice in 2003 -- "He played very well," Wulff said -- but then he suffered a broken arm.

Standards vary when choosing All-Greater Spokane League spring sports teams
If you are wondering how the All-Greater Spokane League spring sports teams are chosen, the simple answer is … well there is no simple answer.

Each sport has a different criterion. For example, baseball, soccer and softball coaches vote for all-league spots. In tennis, any singles player or doubles team that advances to the regional is considered first team. Golf uses year-long results, with the golfers with the lowest stroke averages earning the spots. For track and field, district championship results are used, with the best mark between the 3A and 4A athlete earning first-team honors.
