Cats sweep up Grizzlies

By Ray Ryan
A heavy preponderance in the girls' field events enabled Aberdeen to sweep both boys' and girls' ends of their annual dual track meet with Hoquiam on Wednesday at Sea Breeze Oval.

The Bobcat boys prevailed, 98-47, while the Cat Ladies were 81-59 winners.

Both Harbor schools were double winners against Forks, which was on hand to make it a round robin of dual meets. Aberdeen's boys and girls downed Forks, 84-51 and 94-39, respectively.

Hoquiam's boys were 74-69 winners over Forks and the Lady Grizzlies prevailed, 78-53.

Hoquiam's girls actually had a 46-40 bulge on the track against Aberdeen, thanks largely to their freshman distance star, Tess Grannemann.

Tess smashed her own school record with a scorching 11 minutes, 36 seconds to pace a Grizzly sweep of the 3200 meters. She also copped the 800 and anchored her team's win of the 4x400 relay.
