Aberdeen boxing gym may be coming

Posted by Spike at 02:28 PM

A new boxing gym could be opening in Aberdeen in the near future.

Taholah Boxing Club coach Larry "Bear" Bradley has announced plans to open a gym on the site of Alfie's Hobby House at 108 South K Street.

Called Alfie's Boxing Academy, it will be affiliated with the Taholah Boxing Club and be open five days a week. Alfie's owner Alfie Bensinger is supplying the property, while Bradley and Polo Sanchez Sr. will operate the gym and double as coaches.

"We're trying to get it going as soon as we can," Bradley said Monday. "We've been trying to get this going for a long time."

Bradley said a small ring and gear are among the items needed to operate the facility. He said sponsors are also being sought.

Those interested in sponsorships or donating items may contact Bradley at 276-4328.
