It's a final
Posted by Michael Ko
Your third-place boys team in Class 3A has an 11-18 record. North Central High School of Spokane outlasted Southridge of Kennewick 47-39.
North Central finished the regular season with a 4-16 record, dead last in the Greater Spokane League.
Nick Rijon led N-C with 13 points and three steals. Cody Hauenstein added 10 points and five boards.
Travis Mattair had a huge game for Southridge, with 16 points, 16 boards, five assists and four steals.
But his team looked tired, and coach Jason DeVere admitted as much, saying the O'Dea semifinal game just zapped them emotionally. His team was also outscored 23-0 to end the game.
They shot just 14-for-46 from the field, Southridge did.
Championships coming up!

That's how long North Central has to hold on to its five-point lead, and then all of a sudden, they are our third-place team.
Cody Hauenstein, the second-leading rebounder in this tournament, just hit a three-pointer to beat the third-quarter buzzer for N-C.
31-26, North Central, heading into the fourth.

Final stats from girls game
West Valley (Yakima) beat Meadowdale 50-42.
Three players scored in double digits for W Valley, led by Katie Hawkins with 15 (and 8 boards), and 11 each for Erin Olander and Haley Curtis.
For Meadowdale, Marelle Moehrle led the way with 17 points and 8 boards, Eryn Jones was 4-for-19 from the field for 10 points, and Hanna Fjortoft had 12 points.
Meadowdale looked tired at the end of that game. Four games in four days will do that to you. They shot just 26.4 percent for the game, 14-for-53. So it wasn't just Jones.
West Valley of Yakima takes third place in the tournament.

Halftime of Southridge-North Central
Posted by Michael Ko
Here's an update on the third-place boys game at Hec-Ed.
North Central and Southridge tussling in an all-east of the mountains matchup.
And perhaps, surprisingly, North Central of Spokane up 22-21 at halftime over Southridge of Kennewick.
North Central is the surprise team of the tournament, they're 10-18, and actually got in the semifinals somehow before getting blasted by Bainbridge last night.
Southridge still looks a little hungover from its loss to O'Dea. They were outscored 23-0 to finish the game in the other semifinal game.
We'll have periodic second-half updates.
