Portland Timbers 3, Sounders FC 2 in reserve game

Posted by Jose Romero

Timbers goals:
21st minute, 45th minute, 66th minute.
Sounders FC goals:
Kevin Forrest 57th min., Ely Allen 70th minute. Photos from match thanks to Richard Morrison below.

Some hard tackling in this match. Portland played with some pretty solid guys, including FWD Takayuki Suzuki, MID Ryan Pore (who trained with Sounders FC briefly in preseason), former Swedish league player Johan Claesson, former all-USL DEF David Hayes, DEF Cameron Knowles and GK Steve Cronin, who spent the past five seasons in MLS.

Seattle didn't have to borrow any players from local clubs nor use relatives of players on the roster or team employees for the first time in a reserve game. It had Nyassi, King, Sturgis and Zakuani at midfielder; Wahl, Brown, Ianni and Jared Karkas in his game debut at defender; Eylander and later Dragavon in goal and Levesque (Allen) and Forrest at forward. Taylor Graham came on for Karkas and Pete Vagenas replaced Nyassi late in the second half.

Here's Forrest on his goal, a header (thanks Richard).
