Parke, team part ways
Posted by Jose Romero
I honestly do not know what this is about, but I've been informed by Sounders FC that defender Jeff Parke, who reported to the team for training for the first time only last week, is no longer with the team.
Parke's status is this, in an email from the team: "The player informed team management of his decision Wednesday night. Parke's MLS rights remain with Sounders FC."
More on this soon, I'm sure. Parke and the team failed to reach a contract agreement after Sounders FC took him in the expansion draft, and Parke tried to land in Europe as a free agent. When that fell through, he came to Seattle, and both sides sought to work out a deal. Parke played in the reserve game last Friday and practiced Monday and Tuesday before departing.
