Beyond that, there isn't much more I can tell you about tonight's exhibition finale at Qwest Field, which was closed to the media. I can tell you that Colorado's goal came on a penalty kick when forward Conor Casey was taken down in the box in the 38th minute by a Sounders FC player who was not identified by the team.
Anyway, Seattle finishes 7-3-1 in exhibition play. The starters tonight were Nate Jaqua and Sebastien Le Toux at forward (Le Toux in place of Fredy Montero), Stephen King at right midfield (where Le Toux would normally play), Brad Evans and Osvaldo Alonso at center midfielder, Sanna Nyassi at left midfield, Nathan Sturgis at right back, Tyrone Marshall and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado at center back, James Riley at left back and Kasey Keller in the goal. It seems likely, at this point, that this group will open the season as starters (minus King who was playing that position for the first time in the preseason).
All starters played the full 90 minutes except Evans and Sturgis, who were taken out for precautionary reasons. Sturgis tweaked a quadriceps.
UPDATE 9:57 p.m. -- Dave Clark, a good friend of the blog, asks if I am expecting Nyassi over Steve Zakuani as a midfield starter. I say yes only because Zakuani is coming off injury and although he is expected to be fine, his time away with a bum ankle might mean he has to get back up to speed. These are the guys I figure will open the season, but of course everything is fluid after Opening night.
