Setting the roster, and more from Chris Eylander
Posted by Jose Romero
Here's the Sounders FC roster as of now, after the signing of Chris Eylander to a multi-year contract. The deal was announced today; Eylander said the agreement was in place days ago. He told me he'd been having conversations with GM Adrian Hanauer since midway through the USL Sounders season and "it was a process of putting the pieces together."
Eylander also said Sounders FC is looking at signing more former USL Sounders players though he wouldn't say whom. He's the 15th player on the roster.
"I wanted to be a part of this team more than any other MLS team," Eylander said. "I have a lot of pride for Seattle soccer."
Eylander on Sounders FC GK coach Tom Dutra and teammate Kasey Keller:
"Tom has had a huge impact on me in terms of my development. I've hugely benefited from having him as a coach."
"I've had the opportunity to train with Kasey Keller a few times already. There really is a lot to be learned. Earlier this year [last] he trained with the USL Sounders. I got out a handful of times with him and he was able to give some hints about some things."
On joining his new teammates:
"I'm really excited to be with those guys. I'm excited to play with them and see what skills they have."
