Source says trade with LA Clips is bogus *update*
Posted by Percy Allen
A Sonics team source steadfastly denied an ESPN report that has Seattle sending its fourth pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the No. 7 pick and a protected first-round pick in 2009.
ESPN writer Ric Bucher first broke the story earlier today and ESPN college basketball analyst Steve Lavin is also reporting the trade.
The team source, however, says the Sonics are not making a deal involving those picks. The source declined to verify or deny if Seattle is engaged in other trades, but repeatedly said: "What's being reported is not true. It's inaccurate."
So as it stands, the Sonics have the No. 4 and 24 picks in the first round. Seattle also has four picks (32, 34, 50 and 56) in the second round.
***UPDATE 2:20 P.M.*** ESPN's Chad Ford is now reporting that Seattle-LA trade is contingent on what Minnesota does with the third pick. Says Ford: "The Clippers and Sonics have agreed to swap picks as long as the Wolves take O.J. Mayo at No. 3. If Mayo isn't drafted at 3, the deal is off according to two sources close to the information."
A Sonics source said there is "nothing" to this report either.

When I first heard this, my thought was "yeah, that's exactly what Bennett wants -- trade the higher pick for a lower and get nothing for it immediately. Keep the team value low just in case they have to stay in Seattle." But now I'm reading that it's not true, so maybe it was too good of a deal for Seattle and Bennett vetoed it.

Bayless is all about measureables but lacks the intangibles that are essential for great playmaking. Move down and take Westbrook. Once he develops a consistent offensive stroke he'll be a star. He'll be Glove II with superior athletic ability.

RE: the trial
"This is my town, too," [Sonics Attorney Brad ]Keller said. "But I felt shamed by those among us who live in power and privilege and have not learned that the end does not justify the means."
Such words coming from a mercenary slimebucket lawyer of power and privilege who will sell out a major asset of his own community on behalf of a lying sack of s**t. Bennett, under oath, claims to be "a man possessed" for keeping the Sonics in Seattle when Keller KNOWS that's not what his client meant. Hey Slimebucket, do you always coach your clients to commit perjury. Your theatrical display is disgusting. Traitor.

in case the link doesn't work...here's what it says:
The Clippers and Sonics had an agreement in place to swap the No. 4 and No. 7 picks, with the Clippers sending their 2009 pick to Seattle. But disagreements over the details have apparently ended discussions for now.
If they had acquired the No. 4 pick, the Clippers were expected to take Eric Gordon of Indiana, with the Sonics looking at Brook Lopez and Jerryd Bayless at No. 7. But now the deal appears to be off.

OJ Mayo is predicted to have peaked already Lopez is a stiff. Bayless and Westbrook are all about upside, which gets coaches and GMs fired. Bennett is a fat ass Oakie but I doubt Presti would work for a guy purposly trying to screw things up.

I agree that Presti wouldn't have taken the job if he knew Bennett would meddle so much. Presti still has a career to build and tanking because the owner says to seems to be farfetched. I'm still holding out hope that the Sonics stay even though I know the chances are slim. But I definitely do not want LOPEZ! Booo! I'd love to see the Sonics work out a last minute deal with the Heat and get Beasley. Durant and Beasley would make for a fun team to watch.

oklahoma sonics should draft kevin love as their first pick in the draft. This guy is a monster on the boards. For the sonics its all about getting someone who can rebound the basketball. With the second pick the sonics should pick a power forward who will help love dominate the glass.
