Sonics land White in trade with Detroit
Posted by Percy Allen
The Sonics traded their No. 32 and 46 picks in the second round to the Detroit Pistons for Indiana forward D.J. White, who was taken with the 29th pick.
White, 6-9 and 251 pounds, played four seasons with the Hoosiers and started three. He missed most of his sophomore season because of a broken left foot.
White averaged 14.6 points duriing his IU career and is the school's 16th all-time leading scorer. White is a legitimate power forward, who is the eventual replacement to Chris Wilcox. Wilcox has a year remaining on his contract.

Less guaranteed money this way. They take on Miller's salary, which will clear shortly. However, Mayo will earn more than Love over the guaranteed 3? years of the first rookie contract.

if you need to ask who than you don't need to be here!
alright so the draft is done and espn graded them out as an A-... solid i liked there picks also
westbrook / watson / ridnour
durant / gelebale
green/ wilkins
wilcox/dj white
collison / devon hardin / petro/swift/elson/sene
take this team and add
one of the following in next years draft
Blake Griffin
BJ Mullens
Hasheem Thabeet
then add serge ibaka in 2 to 4 years
the only thing missing is a scorer of the bench to back up green or durant
i can't wait to watch this team grow just like the warriors hawks, and hornets fans are watching there teams get better!
i think presti is the only light in the change over of the orginzation!

I moved here from Michigan in sept, and first off let me say save out Sonics, but second I can tell you people from Detroit are pissed they traded white for the two guys we got. I can tell you that if you don't know who DJ White is, he's a gamer. Think of guys in the mold of Battier, Prince, and Horry a big guy who can do anything, this kid is a gamer. I'm a die hard MSU fan and watched this kid play for 4 years be an animal in the big ten. Second I don't get the pick of Westbrook when guys like Love Bayless Eric Gordon are available. Trust me don't sleep on Eric Gordon the Clips are gonna be very happy with this kid he might just be the best guard out of this draft not named rose, he's a complete stud.

walkup 99-
see you know something about these players and the game thats why it's good to go on blogs and see people that talk about game instead of just coming on here to complain and criticize the teams, players and the guys reporting these things that keep these blogs going!
thanks percy
anyways
about the team i got an idea! a little out there....ok more like a dream
so the sonics have
watson / westbrook / ridnour
durant
green / wilkins
wilcox / dj white
collison / devon hardin
thats 10
now add a free agent in Patrick O'Bryant
center 7'0 foot 250 9th overall pick in 2006 and never really got a chance in golden state is a free agent this summer
now add these undrafted free agents- the goal is to get young an athletic-
jamont gordon sg miss state the highest rated player not drafted by espn - they had him at 34th overall
demarcus nelson sg 6'2 200 can shoot the 3 and is a duke boy!
devon jefferson -6'6 220 sf incredible athlete that needs some time and work
chris lofton - tenn sg 3 point specialist
puts the team at 15
i don't want anyone else -
petro
elson
swift
sene
gelabale
marshall
griffin
what have these guys done and are any of them in the future plans...no! maybe gelabale and sene but i doubt it. throw them in the nbdl for a few years.
let this team grow and learn -
then pending on what is needed for next year most likley a center or another scorer
the sonics will be in postion next year most likley to draft one of the following
draft 2009
Blake Griffin
BJ Mullens
Hasheem Thabeet 7'3
Demar DeRozan
James Harden
Chase Budinger

2009 mock
http://www.nbadraft.net/mocks/2009_nba_mock_draft.html
the roster a few years down the road
westbrook / watson / jeremy pargo
durant/ jamont gordon / terrance williams
green / devon jefferson
collison / dj white / serge ibaka
Hasheem Thabeet / patrick O'Bryant / devon hardin
thats what i want young athletic with lots of room to grow
i love watching the hornets, hawks, warriors, blazers, and the 76ers and i think the team will have a packed house with all of this entertainment and it will be in seattle!

sonics should trade watson so westbrook gets 40 minutes a night playing and keep luke as a backup. I also would trade wilcox with only a year remaining and start collison at power forward and white as his backup. Trade watson and wilcox for a starting center who can rebound the ball. Use petro as the backup center.

One trade that is irritating me is the T-Wolves, Grizzlies deal. Bascially the T-Wolves drafted Mayo and traded him to the Grizzlies for Love and Mike Miller. If your the T-Wolves why would you not just draft Love with the 3rd pick. If that happens the Sonics get Mayo and no one is second guessing their pick of Westbrook.
