Live from Sonics draft headquarters
Posted by Percy Allen
Just hustled across town from the federal courthouse where the Sonics trial ended to the Furtado Center.
I wasn't the only one battling traffic. Sonics co-owner and chairman Clay Bennett beat me here by a couple of minutes. He's up in the War Room and I'm in the media room.
After a few hours, ESPN finally recanted the rumor about the Sonics swapping picks with the Los Angeles Clippers. We debunked the report hours ago thanks to a Sonics source.
Still it's believed GM Sam Presti is having numerous discussions about the pick because nobody in the draft is truly worthy of the No. 4 pick. It was believed that this was a two-man draft (Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley) but now it's a three-man draft with O.J. Mayo thrown in there.
After the top three, there's a big seperation.
The most Interesting question I've heard about the draft has nothing to do with Jerryd Bayless, Brook Lopez, Russell Westbrook or Kevin Love. A friend of mine asked: "What will David Stern say when he gets to the podium?"
Will he say: Seattle Sonics or Sonics? Last year, Stern said: "Seattle Sonics." Believe me. I checked. Got to admit, I'm a little curious.
FYI: Sonics forward Jeff Green is hosting a Draft Party at Fox Sports Grill.

Why is no one talking about DJ Augustine being the Sonics pick, especially if they move back. He and Durant played well together at Texas and we need a PG.

ESPN in their live draft have Clippers at 4 and Sonics at 7. Guess they didn't really update their info or suprise, suprise the Sonics are not being honest.

Horrible pick. Westbrook is the second coming of Antonio Daniels. That's not a complement either since Daniels was a huge lottery bust who ironically was a #4 pick too.

Stern said "Seattle SuperSonics," but the graphic behind him only said "Sonics." All the other teams had their hometown on the graphic too.
Classy touch, NBA.

RE: the trial
"This is my town, too," [Sonics Attorney Brad ]Keller said. "But I felt shamed by those among us who live in power and privilege and have not learned that the end does not justify the means."
Such words coming from a mercenary slimebucket lawyer of power and privilege who will sell out a major asset of his own community on behalf of a lying sack of s**t. Bennett, under oath, claims to be "a man possessed" for keeping the Sonics in Seattle when Keller KNOWS that's not what his client meant. Hey Slimebucket, do you always coach your clients to commit perjury. Your theatrical display is disgusting. Traitor.
