Elson grounded

Posted by Jayda Evans

Sonics C Francisco Elson did not travel with the team to Denver today. He is out with a strained right MCL and will remain in Seattle to receive more treatment. Elson should be able to rejoin the team for its home game against Phoenix on Wednesday.

The team had a good practice, according to coach P.J. Carlesimo. The focus now is another return to the basics, working on transition defense. The Sonics face a rough stretch with Denver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Utah this week. All are fighting for postseason positioning or, as in Denver's case, to get in.

The Nuggets really have Carlesimo concerned because of the 42-point loss last month where Denver scored 72 points inside and the Nuggets scoring 79 points in the opening half of a win against Toronto on Friday. The way the Supes are giving up the lanes and not offering help defense, Denver could easily double that.

G Adrian Griffith is still in Chicago tending to a personal matter and the team will not reveal any more information. Carlesimo said he's scheduled to speak with the player on Sunday.
