Milwaukee game thread
Posted by Percy Allen
IT'S OVER --- Sonics lose 118-106. It's their second loss on this seven-game road trip.
KNOCKOUT --- Charlie Bell stole a Watson pass and raced in for a layup the will seal the game.
SPIN FACTOR --- A Bucks PR person told me the reason for the low turnout is there's an snow storm that's supposed to hit city tonight.
ANYONE'S GAME --- With 2:43 left, the Sonics trail 107-102.
FUNKY FIGURES --- The announced crowd is 15,010, but it looks much closer to 10,000 and maybe 11,000. The upper bowl is about a quarter filled and there's whole sections with just a few fans. The Bucks have had just two sellouts this season. Capacity is 18,717.
REDD UPDATE --- Bucks PR says he has a nose laceration and his return is questionable. With Milwaukee up 105-88 with 8:47 left, it's unlikely that he'll play again.
THIRD QUARTER --- Seattle trails 98-83. The Sonics are gettting solid efforts on the offensive end from Durant (19 points), Watson (17), Petro (11) and Green (10), but no one else has stepped up and defensively they are not very good. The Bucks are still shooting a high percentage (52.0) and no one can stop Villuanueva or Bogut (20 points and 10 rebounds).
REDD OUT --- The Bucks leading scorer was escorted to the lockerroom with a towel over his eye. No word yet on the injury or if he'll return.
WHERE'S WEEZY? --- On paper, Villanueva is a good matchup for him. However, the Bucks forward is thoroughly outplaying Wilcox, who has six points and four rebounds. Villanueva has a season-high 32 points and nine rebounds.
ROOKIE FRUSTRATIONS --- Normally mild-mannered Durant is visiably upset with the officials. After each of his three fouls, he's complained vehmently and made several dramatic gestures. Durant believes he's beating his man to the spot, but the refs say he's getting there too late.
HALFTIME --- Seattle trails 69-54. Whenever the Sonics make a run, Villanueva or Redd knock down a big shot. The Sonics can't slow down the Bucks who are shooting 54.9 percent from the field. Villanueva has 21 points, Bogut 16 and Redd 15. So far the difference has been the lopsided first quarter. Both teams scored 30 points in the second.
DURANT RETURNS --- He just returned to the bench, but is still obviously bothered by the eye. It looks red and he's squinting and rubbing it.
DURANT IN THE LOCKER ROOM --- Durant caught a finger in his right eye from Ivey and he's back in the locker room. He's probably getting an x-ray. Not sure if he'll return just yet.
FIRST QUARTER --- Villanueva has connected on three three-pointers and he has 15 points to lead all scorers. Milwaukee is shooting 64 percent while Seattle is shooting 39.1 percent. Watson has 10 points and Durant six. Seattle trails 39-24.
