No Bones in Seattle
Posted by Jayda Evans
Former Sonic Brent "Bones" Barry won't be returning to Seattle. He was waived by the team this morning to clear space for the 11-player trade this afternoon. Barry, who was acquired when post Kurt Thomas was shipped to San Antonio on Wednesday, is a free agent and is eligible to sign with any team.
Francisco Elson, the Sonics' other pickup, is in Seattle and has passed majority of his physical, clearing him to possibly be in uniform when the Supes host Portland on Friday at KeyArena. Sonics coach P.J. Carlesimo was doubtful he'd play, however.

It's kinda all about the money. I mean for quality's sake, who wouldn't want Barry over Ira Newble???

This is great for Barry, bones can help a good team in the post season and im sure will get offers. but really to be honest who really cares what the OKC Sonics do anyway. Go Mavericks

They aren't in OKC yet. At the least, they're likely here for another 2 years and there's still a chance for them beyond that.
Besides, like Steve Kelly wrote last week, there's no such thing as OKC Sonics and there never will be. If it does happen, they'll forever be the OKC Bennets. The SONICS will always belong to Seattle.

Brent Barry is the most quotable of any Sonic in franchise history. My favorite: When he labeled Jerome James "the Big Enigma". I wish he was coming back for one more round of hilarity. I wish him well.

This bit of news really bothers me. Brent Barry was one of my favorite Sonic players. When I heard about him coming back I thought about getting some tickets to go see them play, but now that hes gone before he even has a chance to suit up, I don't think I'll have the heart to go to again this season.
