Fan given the boot?
Posted by Jayda Evans
So, Sonics chairman Clay Bennett sat in a suite with GM Sam Presti and NBA legend Bill Russell tonight. When a fan spotted the Oklahoma-based owner, he voiced his passionate opinions, allegedly calling Bennett a "thief" and begging for the new owner to sell the team. Well, the fan was swiftly kicked out, according to an e-mail documentation. Bennett supposedly delivered a message to the fan as he and his girlfriend were escorted out of the building that "more respect" needed to be shown. The fan's response? That a $300 investment toward some banner that will fly around New Orleans at the All-Star game with the message "STOP CLAY -- SONICS MUST STAY" was the best drop of cash he's ever made.
The Sonics confirmed that Bennett was in attendance but did not comment about the fan's removal.

Show him some respect. How about show us some respect Clay, your a jackass. I hate you. Go steal somebody's else's team. You have lied from day one and you have continued to lie. As a season ticket holder show me some respect and leave my team in Seattle where they belong.

I had a similar situation occur at a sonic game about two weeks ago against dallas. My friend and I were sitting in the lower section about ten rows behind the sonic bench. Down by about 20 in the fourth, my frind began yelling at coach Carlesimo to put in Luke Ridnour, and other general criticism of his coaching. We were threatened twice by an usher that we would be thrown out for heckling the coach. I guess that's the way the sonics are doing things these days...

I see that Wilcox, Collison and Thomas play better when Petro is the center to play against taller centers and power forwards on the opposing team. I guess its the mental thing that says, We got a big and younger fellow to block, move bodies, score and rebound for the Sonics. Its the matter of the point guards to be smarter in passing the ball to open teammates and distributing the ball to shooters, not necessarily to Durant, Szczerbiak or Wilkins, but the old fashion way to the center and power forward!
As Red Auerbach used to say, the center is were the ball goes through and not the other players. The point guard is suppose to get the ball from the end court to the mid court and pass the ball right away. The other players except the center stays on the middle, as all players move to catch the ball!

In a short interview with Tacoma News Tribune, Presti said that obviously the team doesn't have as many wins as they would like but that it's all part of the process teams go through in rebuilding a franchise into a winner.
Sam Presti cannot shoot himself and that is his reason to save face for the team's dismal showing and for sure he and Clay did not expect it to be this bad and including PJ Carlesimo's no gain in making the team better. As a matter of fact, the team is getting worse!

Carlisemo did a crummy job in Portland in the mid-90's... I knew what Bennett was up to when he hired Carlisemo to run the team this season. I couldn't help but cringe at the though of him being the head coach of any team. Ugh!

Actually, the banner will read: "Stop Clay - Sonics Must Stay!" And my $300 contribution represents just a small faction of the total amount that has been pledged to the cause! Bennett lies, save the Sonics!
