Final thoughts
Posted by Percy Allen
Can't complain about this effort. Everyone did their jobs for the most part.
Kevin Durant and Wally Szczerbiak scored points (25 and 22 respectively), Nick Collison grabbed rebounds (14, including five offensive boards), Earl Watson and Luke Ridnour combined for 14 assists, 20 points and just two turnovers. And Kurt Thomas was solid in the middle with 16 points.
What more can you ask for?
A win? Well that would have been nice, but wins are a scarce commodity this season.
Just as important was Durant's decision to drive baseline on the next-to-last play instead of settling for an outside jumper. When he's older and stronger, maybe he continues his drive to the rim, draws contact and gets a foul instead of pulling up for 6-foot jumper.
Don't worry about Collison's 1-for-7 shooting performance because he had 7-6 Yao Ming on his back for most of the night and couldn't get off his baby hook shot.
What's a little alarming is Jeff Green's zero rebound performance in 18 minutes. He's got to realize that when he's paired against non-scorers like Shane Battier and Chuck Hayes, he's got to crash the glass and run the floor. Even Johan Petro pulled down five rebounds in 14 minutes.
The 10-man rotation seemed to work as well. Don't expect any changes any time soon if things continue like this. So Chris Wilcox will remain a reserve and Delonte West is going to rack up a few more DNP-CDs.
