Sonics practice
Posted by Jayda Evans
The Supes recently completed a shoot-around style practice where the players just walked through Houston's sets, shot a few baskets and jetted. It was an odd setting because the session was held at a downtown health club and about 50 people watched.
Coach P.J. Carlesimo moved the session to the health club because the Rockets were practicing at the same time at the Toyota Center. Both teams wanted to practice early and wrap-up quick to get home (or to a TV) to catch the NFL conference championship games today.
Houston coach Rick Adelman and G Tracy McGrady didn't speak to media after their equally short shoot-around style practice. But McGrady practiced and should be fine to play tomorrow against Seattle. He missed 11 games due to a left knee injury, but returned in Houston's win against San Antonio on Saturday. He didn't start, a first with the Rockets, and was 4-for-12 from the field for nine points.
Many are hyping the matchup as T-Mac vs. KD, but Carlesimo said that was unfair. He thinks KD being KD is good enough and also would like people to use the rookie stats for these superstars after 40 games to base their comparisons instead of their superstar status now. Durant said that T-Mac and Vince Carter are the players he patterned his game after and is looking forward to playing Houston for the first time this season. Bet he's extra eager to put that six-point showing against Dallas behind him, too.
