Sonics PG Luke Ridnour's name is in the midst of trade rumors, again, this time possibly to the Knicks to replace Stephon Marbury, who decided to have potentially season-ending ankle surgery that appears to be against the club's wishes.
Seattle product Jamal Crawford has taken over the PG duties since Marbury's absence and the Knicks are 3-0 under his guidance. But a pass-happy Ridnour who also has the ability to drive and score or hit the outside shot when healthy could really help the Knicks' offense. New York also has young talent that could fit into Seattle's plan.
But every time a PG goes down, the same names pop up as replacements. There's also talk of the Knicks looking at Memphis' Damon Stoudamire, who the Sonics will face tonight, and Sacramento's Mike Bibby. The trade deadline is Feb. 21, so expect to hear Ridnour, Earl Watson, and even Wally Szczerbiak's name tossed around a lot in the upcoming weeks.
And don't expect the Sonics to make just any move. This club is clearly building for the future. They're looking for expired contracts to open up even more cap space this offseason or hot young talent to meld with rookies Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.
