Shinn denies interest in Oklahoma City
Posted by Percy Allen
In response to a Seattle Times story, New Orleans Hornets owner George Shinn told the Times Picayune that he has no interest in moving the team to Oklahoma City.
Still some aren't convinced. In this story in The Oklahoman mayor Mick Cornett said: "I don't think they ever wanted to leave. So if he does want to come here, I don't think that's a new thought. I would just assume that nothing has changed. They went back hoping it would work in New Orleans. It doesn't seem to be working. But their first instinct was to play here anyway."
Here's the Times story that Shinn referred to.
The NBA points out the distinction that no market "belongs" to any team, but rather they're only reviewing the Clay Bennett's application to relocate to Oklahoma City. Still, no other team can make a claim to the city until Bennett's case is decided.
