Turn it into an F1 race track

Speed Center

I would create a race track in the Seattle center. Hopefully one that could host a Formula 1 race, and other types of racing. Since I work down town, I would love to hear the engines revving at 20,000rpm echoing through the streets. Plus, seeing a Ferrari Formula 1 car driving by the Space Needle at 180mph would be pretty cool as well. Seattle would be a nice place to host an F1 race. Not only does it have great scenery and nice people, there is more chance of rain to make the race interesting. Its what I would do if I were in charge. :-)

Instead of my husband, Mark, dragging me to Montreal again to see a race, I would go with him all the time if it were here. He LOVES F1. Please consider!!!

I think it is a great idea. The problem is getting the sponsors (Indy F1 this year could not afford it!). Both Microsoft founders are great car enthusiasts, and this should be brought to them, as well as the other .com's. As for the track, it is too small, so I would leave the Center into the streets, returning into the center arena (build a 100,000 seat grandstand). Splendid idea! Present it.

I think its a great idea, since we have alot of car and racing enthusiasts, but not enough race tracks, i think its a great idea, people would come from all over the country to see Seattle and an F1 race or a GT race or even any kind of race!!!

Consider please!

Probably one of the best idea's I've heard in a long time. Do it!

YES!

An F1 track would be the best! This country needs to embrace F1 and the Seattle market would be an ideal showcase to the world. With the sizeable industry locally, I'm sure sponsorship and funding could be sourced and bring F1 back to the US!

I am a rabid Formula1 fan in Seattle but as coo as that could be for me personally, it’s even more ridiculous than having everyone in Seattle pool money together and buyout Clay Bennett. It’ll never happen. They took out the US Grand Prix this year and they’re threatening to take out the Australian Grand Prix unless they agree to a night race because most of the people who watch F1 are in Europe and when it’s held here it’s like 3am there so people can’t watch it. Plus, they go to exotic places like Monaco, Valencia, and Shanghai. For the US, we've got Laguna and they don’t even use that for F1. Why would they even think about coming to Seattle?

While I love the idea, I am realistic too...F1 is not likely to ever come to this city. However, F1 is adopting new rules next year, that allow KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems) as part of the Formula. This will help address those that question the relevance of the sport in the current energy and climactic situation.
But the idea of Motorsports held at the Center is terrific - there are plenty of other race series that could race there...the track could have some dedicated portions that start and end a lap at the center, with a leg of the track that ventures out into the streets...up the Denny regrade, or climb Queen Anne...Yeah, sports cars in the city! Think Long Beach Grand Prix, they make an excellent week of it down there. Why not here? Have events for althernative fuel-powered racers, or Hybrids, or electrics, etc. etc. Let's lead the way instead of being just another "me, too" event!

I love this idea. F1, Indy Car/Champ Car, American Le Mans, SCCA would all be great to have. I know my family and friends would be interested.
