Danny O'Neil covers the Seahawks for The Seattle Times.
Supersub Mac is back...to free agent status Posted by Jose Romero at 10:51 PM The Seahawks waived reserve FB Fred McCrary Tuesday, according to the NFL Network and the team Web site. Seahawks.com also said Josh Scobey, a former special teams standout with Seattle in 2005 and 2006, has been re-signed. Scobey takes the place of S C.J. Wallace, who was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury he aggravated Sunday in Philadelphia. Here's a profile I wrote about Scobey two years ago. When McCrary joined the Seahawks Oct. 9 following the placement of Mack Strong on injured reserve in October, he said the words "Supersub Mac is back." McCrary was used exclusively on special teams the past three games with the emergence of David Kirtman as the backup fullback. Scobey, who turns 28 next Tuesday, was released Sept. 25 by the Buffalo Bills. A special teams captain for Seattle in Super Bowl XL, he played in 28 games for the Seahawks, returning 76 kicks for 1,641 yards (21.6 avg.) with a long of 53. Scobey also had 35 special teams tackles. Originally drafted in the sixth round (185th overall) by the Arizona Cardinals, he has played in 55 career games. |
