Report: Julian Peterson traded to Detroit for Cory Redding

Posted by Danny O'Neil

Linebacker Julian Peterson will be traded to Detroit for Cory Redding, according to this report from FOXSports.com.

Redding is a defensive lineman whom the Lions designated their franchise player in 2007. He agreed to a $49 million contract so this amounts to two players with large contracts who no longer fit the payroll structure of their respective teams getting traded.

FOXSports reported Redding agreed to restructure his contract to make the deal work and Seattle also received a fifth-round pick in next month's draft.

Redding is 28, and is entering his eighth season in the NFL. He had a career-high 8 sacks in 2007.
