KJR-AM: Leroy Hill "thankful" for franchise tag
Posted by Danny O'Neil
It's been a few weeks now since the Seahawks designated Leroy Hill as the franchise player, pulling him out of the unrestricted free-agency pool.
Hill remains unbitter as he indicated in an interview with Ian Furness on KJR-AM on Thursday. It's the first local interview since the tag was applied..
"I'm thankful for it, you know," Hill said to Furness. "I would rather get a long-term deal done because I would like to be in Seattle for the rest of my career. But we couldn't reach an agreement, pretty much, by the deadline.
"It's one more year and we'll be in the same sort of situation next year unless we can reach an agreement."
Hill said he remains confident in his abilities to go out and perform this upcoming season. Here's a link to the entire interview with Furness, a prince and a gentleman.
Update and an apology: The initial posting did not attribute the information, an oversight that Danny O'Neil apologizes for. The interview was conducted with Ian Furness of KJR-AM and it is the first local interview Hill has given since the tag was applied. O'Neil seeks to be diligent about proper attribution. This was an oversight he regrets and will be duly punished for [and sorry for those who did not recognize the tongue-in-cheek nature. The punishment consisted entirely of my -- Danny's -- red cheeks of embarrassment for not crediting Ian].
