He's not on a plane yet or en route, but it appears that fullback/halfback Leonard Weaver will be in New Orleans later today for a free-agent visit with the Saints.
The question of Weaver's future is an interesting one. For a fullback, he's very, very fast. In fact, he used to race Shaun Alexander back when he arrived and those races were extremely close.
And his pair of long receptions against San Francisco last season showed that he's got more giddy-up than your traditional fullback, who usually functions more like a sledgehammer than a speedster.
But the Seahawks' backfield is in flux. Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett were signed last year, obviously with an eye toward building a smash-and-dash, thunder-and-lightning backfield combo. Where does Weaver fit into that equation? We'll see as the Saints' pursuit of Weaver heats up.
