Linebacker Lance Laury to be unrestricted free agent
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Linebacker Lance Laury's agent confirmed he has not been tendered a qualifying offer, and is going to be headed toward the open market as an unrestricted free agent. Laury was a big-hitting special-teams player, elected captain of that unit.
The Seahawks have committed more than $20 million in salary-cap space toward its starting three linebackers, and D.D. Lewis and Will Herring filled in for injuries at linebacker.
Laury was the Seahawks' only player who was scheduled to be a restricted free agent. Here's a list of the Seahawks who are scheduled to be unrestricted free agents, according to the NFL Players Association:
| QB | RB | WR | OL | TE | DL | LB | DB | ||
| C.Frye | M.Morris | B.Engram | R.Willis | W.Heller | R.Bernard | D.D.Lewis | |||
| L.Weaver | K.Robinson | F.Womack | H.Green | L.Laury | |||||
The list of prospective free agents from the league's players association also includes OL Chris Gray, LB Wesly Mallard, OL Steve McKinney and long-snapper Jeff Robinson. I'm not including them in the chart. Gray was diagnosed with a neck injury before last season and is not expected to play, Mallard was injured during training camp and has never played in a regular-season game for the Seahawks and McKinney was signed only late in the season after injuries decimated Seattle's offensive line.
