Voluntary practice attendance
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The team finished the first of its voluntary practice sessions this week with some familiar faces missing.
WR Anthony Russo, S C.J. Wallace, S Mike Green, LB Will Herring, C Chris Spencer, G Rob Sims, LT Walter Jones, WR Deion Branch, WR Bobby Engram, LE Patrick Kerney, DT Rocky Bernard, DT Kevin Brown and DT Marcus Tubbs were not on the field. Wallace had an appendectomy over the weekend but it went well, the team said, and he will eventually be back.
Now those names don't include any big surprises. Green, Spencer, Jones, Kerney and Tubbs are all recovering from offseason surgery. Same for Sims, who underwent his procedure last month.

Wrapping up the day

The Seahawks have finished their first practice of the team's June mini-camp, and here what was observed:
-The No. 1 offensive line is the same that ended last month's camp...Pork Chop Womack at LT, Mike Wahle at LG, Chris Gray at C, Mansfield Wrotto at RG and RT Sean Locklear. That's two projected starters out of five.
-Coach Holmgren spent a good deal of time with the receivers today, really coaching them up.
-The No. 1 defensive line was Darryl Tapp at RDE, Brandon Mebane at RDT, Craig Terrill at LDT and Baraka Atkins at LDE. Starting DE Patrick Kerney is still recovering from shoulder surgery and starting DT Rocky Bernard had a courtroom appearance in the morning and was not at practice.
-Four players have Mohawks: WR Nate Burleson, DT Marcus Tubbs, RB Julius Jones and rookie FB Owen Schmitt.
-Burleson is the veteran out there without Deion Branch able to play and Bobby Engram skipping the voluntary practices because of his dissatisfaction with his contract. Ben Obomanu, Jordan Kent, Logan Payne and Courtney Taylor are filling the void for now.
-All of the rookie draft picks were present, their colleges having finished graduation ceremonies.

Rocky Bernard's pre-trial hearing continued
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Defensive tackle Rocky Bernard was granted a two-week continuance on his pre-trial hearing. Bernard's lawyer, Jon Scott Fox, made the request on Monday morning and said the continuance will be used for further investigation and discussions with the prosecutor's offense.
Bernard is facing a charge of domestic-violence assault after his April arrest at a Seattle night club. Bernard appeared in court on Monday morning just about the time his teammates were taking the field for a voluntary practice.

June camp opens today
Posted by Jose Romero
Today begins two weeks -- actually eight days spread out between this week and next -- of Seahawks team practices. The workouts are voluntary, so it wouldn't be a surprise if WR Bobby Engram, who is unhappy with his contract, is not here in Kirkland today.
Another guy who will miss today is DT Rocky Bernard, who has a pretrial conference hearing going on this morning. The hearing stems from his not guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault in an incident that took place about a month and a half ago.
I'll be looking to see what draft picks will be here. Also, there are some offensive line injuries with Chris Spencer, Walter Jones and Rob Sims coming off surgeries, so I don't expexct to see them doing anything.
