Seahawks sign Williams, release Putzier
Posted by Jose Romero
It's Jose Romero. This from the Seahawks today:
RENTON, WASH. -- The Seattle Seahawks have signed tackle Kyle Williams to the active roster from the practice squad. Williams is a second-year player from USC, acquired by the Seahawks as a free agent in 2007.
In order to make room on the roster for Williams, the Seahawks released tight end Jeb Putzier, who joined the Seahawks as an unrestricted free agent from Houston this offseason. Putzier was active in seven games for the Seahawks this season and had no catches.
Without Mike Wahle at left guard and Steve Vallos possibly starting at center for a questionable Chris Spencer, the Seahawks needed some help on the o-line. Williams practiced some with the first team Tuesday.
The Seahawks' official injury report is as follows: Wahle (shoulder) is out. S C.J. Wallace (hamstring) is doubtful. Spencer (back) did not practice Wednesday and is questionable, as is DT Red Bryant (ankle). Bryant also didn't practice. WR Koren Robinson (knee) is probable; he practiced Wednesday.
For the Cowboys, WR Miles Austin (knee), CB Mike Jenkins (hamstring), RB Felix Jones (toe) and OG Kyle Kosier (foot) are out. Jones, a rookie first-round pick, was placed on injured reserve. TE Martellus Bennett (ankle), S Patrick Watkins (neck) and LB Justin Rogers (back) are questionable. CB Terence Newman (groin) and former UW WR Isaiah Stanback (shoulder) are probable.
