Patrick Kerney to IR, his season is over
Posted by Danny O'Neil
The Seahawks placed defensive end Patrick Kerney on injured reserve Wednesday, ending the season of the player who led the team with 5 sacks.
"Any time you get injured, it's disappointing," Kerney said. "Most of the time, it's something that's out of your control so you've got to sort of sit back and take it for what it is."
Kerney missed the past three games because of a shoulder injury, which required arthroscopic surgery. Initially, it was feared Kerney reinjured the torn labrum that he had surgically repaired in the offseason. Instead, it required a clean-up procedure.
"The problem now is just a range of motion," Kerney said. "It's not coming back."
The Seahawks claimed Brandon Miller, a defensive end who was waived by Atlanta. Miller was an undrafted rookie from Georgia, who spent the first 10 weeks of the season on the Falcons' practice squad. He was active for the Falcons' loss to Denver last week, but did not play.
Seattle's other roster moves this week were to re-sign safety Jamar Adams to the practice squad and returning tight end Jeb Putzier to the active roster.
QB Matt Hasselbeck (sore), S C.J. Wallace (hamstring), WR Koren Robinson (knee) and G Mike Wahle (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday.
LB David Hawthorne (calf) returned to practice and DT Red Bryant (ankle) was limited in practice. CB Josh Wilson went down with what appeared to be an ankle injury early in practice.
