Branch, Hasselbeck expected back; more changes at wide receiver?
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Deion Branch and Matt Hasselbeck are both expected on the field Wednesday for practice as the Seahawks prepare to play Arizona, and if all proceeds well, both would start.
Seneca Wallace's status for the game will be a question. He suffered a groin injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game in Miami, which was severe enough Holmgren said he was forced to consider substituting him out of the game. Wallace wanted to stay and finish.
"Those are difficult injuries for a quarterback," coach Mike Holmgren said. "And by playing the whole game on it, it's probably a little more sore than it would have been, but he was able to play and he threw the ball pretty well."
Branch could start, and that might not be the only change in the lineup at wide receiver.
"We're going to look at the whole thing again," Holmgren said. "We've been doing it almost on a weekly basis. We'll do it again. We'll keep looking at it."
Seattle has used 11 different wide receivers. Courtney Taylor began the season as starting flanker, moved to the bench and then to the practice squad. Jordan Kent started the season on the roster, was moved to the practice squad after the first week, and is now back on the 53-man roster. Michael Bumpus started out on the practice squad, was active for a couple weeks, and is now back on the practice squad.
Holmgren left open the possibility a receiver could be moved up from the practice squad.
- This is Jose adding on to Danny's informative entry: OG Floyd Womack was expected to play Sunday but sat out with a foot injury and was replaced by Ray Willis at right guard. Willis played well, Holmgren said, but Womack should be OK to play this week and is expected to start.
