Patrick Kerney out; Lofa Tatupu and Leonard Weaver could play
Posted by Danny O'Neil
Defensive end Patrick Kerney will miss this weekend's game as he travels to be examined by James Andrews for his injured shoulder.
Andrews is the doctor who performed surgery to repair the torn labrum Kerney suffered during the playoffs last season. Kerney reinjured the shoulder during last week's victory in San Francisco?
Just how concerned is coach Mike Holmgren?
"Well, he's not playing, that's the first concern," Holmgren said after Friday's practice. "But I'm going to wait and see, this has been a little bit of a roller-coaster year with the injury thing anyway. So instead of getting too down or too up about what might happen, let's wait and see what the doctor says."
Fullback Leonard Weaver missed his third day of practice because of a foot injured at the bottom of a pile. Holmgren conceded rookie Owen Schmitt could play a bigger role against Philadelphia, but didn't rule Weaver out.
"Owen Schmitt will probably factor in a little bit more than first anticipated," Holmgren said. "I really have to see how Leonard feels on Sunday morning."
Linebacker Lofa Tatupu was in uniform at practice, but did not participate. Holmgren said trainers worked him out before the team began practice at 11:45 on Friday morning. Tatupu suffered a groin injury against the 49ers, and Holmgren said the linebacker's status will depend upon how he feels Sunday.
