UW athletic director Scott Woodward on Jim Mora on KJR-AM
Posted by Danny O'Neil
UW athletic director Scott Woodward was on KJR-AM with Dave Mahler and was asked about Jim Mora.
Woodward joked that Mahler got Mora into trouble once and he wouldn't let him do it again. Woodward then said that Mora is an important part of Husky football and someone he would talk to about the program's future, and it sounded more like he was talking about seeking advice from Mora. Woodward said that's a conversation he would want to have regardless of Mora's situation.
Here's a transcript of that Q&A:
Mahler: Well, one of those names that's out there, and we talked about this on Saturday, that I'm sure you and Mark Emmert are well aware -- Scott -- of what Husky fans want and what Husky fans are asking for. And there's a name out there, let's just go out and call out the elephant in the room, and that's the name of Jim Mora, who is coaching the secondary right now with the Seahawks. I'm wondering if he is a possibility at this point, if Jim Mora is somebody you would at least like to talk to?
Woodward: Now, Softy, you got him in trouble one time. I'm not going to let you get him in trouble again so we're not going to go there.
Mahler: I got him in trouble? Me. How about the guy sitting to my left [Hugh Millen] for crying out loud. So just trying to wrap that up, your take on names is you'd rather keep the name dropping part of that conversation for later?
Woodward: Absolutely, and no matter what, Jim Mora is an important of Husky football and he's an important part of this program, and Jim and I will talk no matter what whether he's the head football coach of the Seahawks or whatever he's doing. And we're going to talk about Husky football. That is what I hope for. We haven't talked yet, but I would love to talk to him.
