Herring added to roster
Posted by Jose Romero
The Seahawks, who are on their way to Tampa today, have added LB Will Herring to the 53-man roster. They made room for Herring by waiving WR Billy McMullen, who reached a settlement with the team because he suffered a compound fracture in his right pinkie finger.
Herring, a fifth-round pick out of Auburn in 2007, had microfracture knee surgery in the offseason and was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list. He was eligible to practice with the team this week and did so, and the team had a three-week window to decide what to do with him but made their decision quickly.
McMullen played in four games and had seven receptions for 124 yards. He originally signed with the Seahawks on September 10 as a free agent when the Seahawks were severely shorthanded at receiver.
Herring will be a backup and special teams player if and when activated for a game.
